Tiger Woods was in tears as he walked down the 18th hole at St Andrews. The 46-year-old has revealed that he is unsure whether he will be physically ready to compete when The Open returns to the legendary course in 2030. As he reached the finish of what may be his final round at the famous course, a very emotional Woods wiped tears from his eyes.
As he approached the 18th hole green, the audience rose in unison to offer one of golf's all-time greats a standing ovation. Woods will miss the weekend cut after finishing on +9 after 36 holes. Woods nearly lost his leg in a tragic car accident in February 2021 and worried he would never walk again. The 15-time major champion revealed that his injuries may prohibit him from competing in the Open when it returns to St Andrews in eight years.

After what may be his final round on the course, Woods talked to Sky Sports. "It was very emotional for me. I've been coming here since 1995 and I think the next one comes around in 2030 and I don't know if I will be physically able to play by then. So to me, it felt as if it might have been my last Open here at St. Andrews," he said.

"I have been lucky enough and fortunate enough to have won twice here and it felt very emotional just because I don't know what my health is going to be like. " feel like I will be able to play future British Open's but I don't know if I will be able to play that long enough for when it comes back here if I will still be playing," he concluded.
