Amazon Prime Video Sport has released an official trailer for the upcoming Ben Stokes' documentary 'Phoenix from the Ashes'. The show will go live on 26th August on Prime Video. The trailer highlights Stoke’s ups and downs throughout his career in a nearly three-minute video. The trailer also has quotes from his teammates like Joe Root, Jos Butler and others along with some of his friends.

Given the reception of the trailer, it looks like the documentary is going to be a success. Whisper, a TV production company, has been working with Ben Stokes since last year. The upcoming documentary will be sponsored by Red Bull and distributed by Amazon Prime.

In February 2022, the England Test captain was seen with cameras on the West Indies tour. Amazon Prime had to take the permission of the board in order to interview Stokes’s teammate and bring a camera to their training facility.

Here is the trailer

The trailer starts off with a narrator commentating β€œIf I was making a movie of the Ben Stokes story, a pivotal scene would be him saying, I’m done.” Stokes took an indefinite break from cricket last year to focus on his mental well-being. The video shows Ben Stokes struggling with anxiety and panic attacks. Stuart Broad said, β€œI could see him never playing again”. Many people had thought that it would be the end of Stokes’s career, but the southpaw made a great comeback and now captains the England Test side.

The trailer then moves on to Joe Root who says, β€œnot many people get to the best side of him, but I am grateful that I have”. The trailer also features the CCTV footage of the street fight in which Ben Stokes was involved. The England captain landed into a big controversy in 2007 when he got into a street fight outside a nightclub in Bristol. Stokes was arrested and was later released with a fine and an eight-match ban by the England board.

Stokes recently took retirement from the ODI format, citing the increasing demand for a jampacked cricket schedule. He said that playing three formats is β€œunsustainable” for him.
