Watch: Umpire dismisses Adam Zampa’s non-striker run-out attempt in BBL for a unique reason

On 3 January 2023, Melbourne Renegades locked horns with Melbourne Stars in the ongoing Big Bash League. It was the 27th match of the ongoing tournament that took place in Melbourne. Both Melbourne sides were looking to improve their position in the table by winning this important clash.

However, Melbourne Renegades managed to win the match by 33 runs. Thus, they managed to climb up to the third position on the table. But, Adam Zampa made headlines from the match when he tried to out a batter at the non-striker end. However, a video has now gone viral as the umpire gave that as not out and the reason was quite unique for Cricket fans.

Adam Zampa took one wicket for 18 runs in four overs against Melbourne Renegades

Speaking of the video, the incident took place during the last over of Melbourne Renegades’ innings. Adam Zampa came up to bowl the last over for Melbourne Stars. On the fifth delivery of that over, Zampa did not bowl as he ran out the batter at the non-striker end. Tom Rogers also started to walk off the field.

But, the on-field umpire told that it was not out as Zampa had his arm go past the vertical. He completed his action without letting go of the ball. So, Rogers survived and the decision made headlines from this clash. Speaking of the match, Melbourne Stars won the toss and opted to bowl first. While batting first, Melbourne Renegades scored 141 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs. Adam Zampa took one wicket for 18 runs in four overs.

In reply, Melbourne Stars failed to chase down the target. They scored only 108 runs in nine wickets in 20 overs. For the Renegades, Tom Rogers took five wickets for 16 runs in four overs. He also won the player of the match award for his fantastic spell with the ball. With this loss, Melbourne Stars are now struggling in the seventh position with four points in seven matches.
