Drama, action and a super over is not new to cricket. Who can forget the final of the 50- over World Cup in 2019 between England and New Zealand? Or the bowl out between India and Pakistan in the 20-20 World Cup in 2007. The game of cricket manages to keep on throwing such interesting moments, which makes the game intriguing and thrilling.

The match between USA and Canada in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup Americas Qualifiers in Antigua proved to be a blockbuster match, with USA winning the Super Over.

Needing 143 to win, the match stretched right down to the wire, with the USA needing three runs to get off the final delivery with two wickets remaining. Ali Khan and former South Africa player Rusty Theron were the batters. The former took the strike and failed to connect the shot.

Sensing there was an opportunity for a single, Theron called for a run and collected a bye before Canada wicketkeeper-batter Hamza Tariq took off the bails at the striker end and started to celebrate thinking he has run out the batter. From here the match turned 360 degrees. As Tariq let off the ball casually, Theron ran to complete the second run. A dejected Khan was seen heading back to the pavilion but Theron’s shout reached him and khan completed the second run.

The Canadian players thought the match was over and were celebrating the victory but they quickly saw what was unfolding on the pitch and ran out Theron when he was pushing for the third run. The umpires though gave two runs to the USA team and the match was tied. Canadian players could not believe the result and tried to protest but no avail.

In the Super Over, the USA scored 22 runs and restricted Canada to just 14 runs to win the match.
