Team India’s campaign in the Asia Cup continued as they faced off against Hong Kong in their second match in Group A. The ‘Men in Blue’ were eager to correct their mistakes from their first game against Pakistan. The Indian batters were looking in good touch but a slow knock from KL Rahul meant that India couldn’t score at a brisk pace in the early overs.
After Rahul’s dismissal, Suryakumar Yadav walked in and took the Dubai International Stadium by storm putting on a magnificent exhibition of inventive strokeplay. ‘SKY’, as he’s lovingly called by his teammates, plundered ‘sky-high’ sixes with absolute ease making the crowd gasp in amazement. After the end of India’s innings, SKY received a special appreciation from his partner Virat Kohli who bowed down in respect of his scintillating knock.
In a video shared by Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the Asia Cup in India, Kohli can be seen bowing to SKY as he makes his way back to the dressing room after the innings ended. Seeing Kohli’s reaction, SKY gave a smile and hugged the former Indian captain.

Kohli and SKY came at the crease at the score of 94/2 after 13 overs. The duo then added 97 runs off just 42 balls between them to take India to a mammoth total of 192. Kohli also returned to form and scored a brilliant half-century and remained unbeaten on 59 off 44 balls. He smashed one boundary and three gigantic sixes as he gave a glimpse of his return to form to his fans.
SKY on the other hand was seen at his brutal best smashing six sixes and as many fours in his innings of 68 off just 26 balls. The 31-year-old has been in tremendous form of late as he recently scored a brilliant hundred while chasing in a T20I against England last month. His exploits with the bat have seen him rise to the number three spot in the T20 batters’ rankings. The Asia Cup will be the perfect opportunity for the batter to snatch the top spot in the rankings from Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam.
