The Hardik Pandya-led India side huffed and puffed their way to a win in the first ODI against Australia in Mumbai. With the ball, the home team didn't have the best of starts after picking the wicket of Travis Head early. Mitchell Marsh was bashing the Indian bowlers as hit five sixes and 10 fours on his way to 81.
However, after his wicket, the rest of the batting line-up couldn't do much and were folded for 188 runs. In reply, the Men In Blue lost four wickets for 39 runs and were in deep trouble. The likes of Pandya and KL Rahul put together 44 runs for the fifth wicket. During the partnership, the former failed to convert a free hit against Sean Abbott. In reaction to this, former India skipper Virat Kohli wasn't happy.

It was calming to watch KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja bat: Hardik Pandya
Meanwhile, Pandya got out when the scorecard read 83 and he was the fifth wicket to fall. The team needed a big partnership to sail through a tough game for both sides. The likes of Jadeja and Rahul put together unbeaten 108 runs for the sixth wicket. Jadeja scored 45 not out while Rahul scored 75. The latter was dropped from the playing XI during the Test series.
Meanwhile, India's stand-in skipper Pandya praised the duo during the post-game presentation.
"We were under pressure in both the innings, but we kept our composure, and found ways to come out of those situations. When we got the momentum our way, we didn't let it go. I am really proud the way we played today. Jaddu did what he was supposed to do coming back after eight months away from ODIs. I enjoyed my bowling and batting, would have loved to finish it off, but the way KL and Jaddu batted, it was calming to those watching from the outside."
