India is currently taking on England in the rescheduled fifth Test match at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham. Throughout the contest, the Indian team has had some ups and downs, and the last innings saw a struggle to take wickets. The English team built a good opening partnership of 107 runs while chasing a target of 378 runs.

However, they lost a few wickets in quick succession after that. England was three wickets down for a score of 109 runs. Alex Lees' third wicket energised the Indian team as they regained control of the game. Lees was involved in a mixup with Joe Root and was run out in the 25th over of the match.

In the meantime, India could not take any more wickets after that. Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root built an excellent partnership to get England in a very comfortable position. The surface offered little for bowlers, and the batting conditions had improved. The two batted sensibly and attacked only the loose deliveries. Each scored a half-century and built a 150-run partnership.

England now needs 119 runs to win the match on the final day, whereas India needs seven more wickets to win. Bairstow (72 runs in 87 balls) and Root (76 runs in 112 balls) are in the middle. They would like to build on their partnership from day four.

Earlier, India scored 416 runs in the first innings, with centuries from Rishabh Pant (146 in 111 balls) and Ravindra Jadeja (104 in 194 balls). England then replied with 284 runs, handing India a 132-run lead. Jonny Bairstow (106 runs in 140 balls) was the star of the innings. Cheteshwar Pujara and Pant then scored half-centuries to help India reach 245 in their second innings. They set a target of 378 runs for England to chase down.
