Ajinkya Rahane stated that India will play for the win to seal a spot in the World Test Championship. The hosts are 2-1 up in the series, and if they avoid defeat, they will play against New Zealand at Lord's. With a win in the fourth Test, India will also extend their winning streak in the home Test series to 13. India won the second and third Tests convincingly after being thrashed by England in the first.

The pitch will be similar to the one used in the previous Test: Ajinkya Rahane

Rahane expects the conditions to be similar to the previous Test. However, the game could turn out differently since India and England will go back to playing with the traditional red ball. Considering that the track will once again offer a turn, India may not make unnecessary changes in the XI. However, the team will have to make one forced change as Jasprit Bumrah is out. In his absence, the management might rope in Umesh Yadav. Another potential change could be replacing Washington Sundar for Kuldeep Yadav to make the spin attack stronger.

England made a great start to the four-match series, defeating India by 227 runs in the opening Test. However, the hosts bounced back stronger with comprehensive wins in the second and third matches. India will now need at least a draw to secure a place in the final of the inaugural ICC World Test Championship. England's hopes of playing the ICC World Test Championship final finished with their 10-wicket defeat in the third test in Ahmedabad. But the visitors can still spoil the party for Virat Kohli and Co if they win the final Test.
