2021 has already started with controversy as five Indian players have been accused of breaching the bio-bubble in Melbourne. Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, Navdeep Saini and Prithvi Shaw have been alleged ahead of the third Test in Sydney Border Gavaskar series against Australia.
All five players were seen dinning at an indoor restaurant. The Board of Control for Cricket in India and Cricket Australia opened an inquiry. All five players have asked to isolate themselves.
They will train separately from the main squad. However, their participation in the Third Test is not yet sure. But all have got permission to travel with the entire squad from Melbourne to Sydney on Monday.
Matthew Wade talks about the entire bio-bubble breach controversy
Matthew Wade also reckoned on the issue. The batsman stated that though he has seen the photo, he hasn’t thought much about it. It's not Australia's concern what Indian players do outside the cricket ground. The opening batsman also feels that the Australian team can't much about this episode.
Matthew Wade signed off by saying that the development is new to him. The Australian side would prefer playing at the Gabba because it is a venue they haven’t lost since 1988. Earlier this morning, the BCCI official said that both players and support staff underwent an RT-PCR Test for Covid-19 on January 3. All of them have returned negative.
Additionally, controversy has also erupted on the venue of the fourth Test. After Sydney, both the teams have to travel to Brisbane to participate in the fourth match. But the Indian Team is hesitant in travelling to Brisbane considering the strict quarantine rules.
After defeating the hosts by 8 wickets in the Boxing Day Test, India will be gearing up for the third match of the series. The third match is set to begin January 7 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
