'We aren’t here to win the Cup' - Shakib Al Hasan’s Statement Ahead Of India Clash Leaves Fan In Shock

Both India and Bangladesh are currently busy playing the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. The Men in Blue have managed to win two out of their three games. On the other hand, Bangladesh have also managed to win two out of their three games so far. 

So, the stage will be set for an enthralling battle between these two sides on 2 November 2022 in Adelaide. Both teams will look to win the game in order to strengthen their position in the group. But, ahead of this clash, Bangladesh skipper, Shakib Al Hasan attended the pre-match press conference and came up with a statement that shocked Bangladeshi fans.

“We aren’t here to win the Cup.” - Shakib Al Hasan

While speaking during the pre-match press conference, a journalist asked the Bangladesh skipper about their chances against a team like India. In response to that, Shakib Al Hasan said that they have not come here to win the World Cup. They know that beating India will be considered an upset and they will look to do that with their best performance.

“India have come here to win the World Cup. We aren’t here to win the Cup. Us beating India would be upset and we are aware of that. But we are aiming for an upset” Shakib said. Bangladeshi fans were in shock after hearing from the skipper that they were not looking to win the World Cup this time around. Speaking about recent forms, Bangladesh have found difficulties to achieve good results in this format. Before the World Cup, Shakib Al Hasan failed to lead his team to glory in the Asia Cup 2022. 

He even failed to lead well during the T20I tri-series in New Zealand. However, in the World Cup so far, they have managed to win two games out of three. So, Shakib Al Hasan will look to do well in the upcoming games. Speaking about his own performance, Shakib has scored 31 runs with the bat along with only three wickets with the ball.
