Mithali Raj recently commented on the Indian women’s cricket team flying to England with the men’s cricket team. Raj believes that young players of the women’s team can gain valuable insights into English conditions.
Many cricketers in the women’s squad would play the first Test match of their career in the upcoming tour. The players on the men’s squad are comparatively more experienced. Mithali Raj believes that her teammates are interacting with the men’s team whenever they cross paths. The men’s team has a lot of experience of playing in England and they can give some valuable information. Thereby it is good to have them around. Raj stated that the talks with the men’s team can help them gain more knowledge about playing in the UK.
Experienced players like Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ishant Sharma and many others can give insight into the pitch and conditions. The women’s team would need every information they can get to solidify their chances of winning in England.
The Indian women’s team is eying hat trick of Test wins against England
The women’s team had previously won two Test matches against England on English soil. They registered their win against England by five wickets in 2006 at Taunton. Eight years after that, the women’s team again defeated the English team by six wickets at Wormsley.
This year the only Test between India and England would be held in Bristol. It would be interesting to see if the women’s team can register a win against the host third time in a row.
The Indian women’s would likely fly to England on 2nd June along with the men’s team. The one-off Test against England would begin on 16th June and end on 19th June. After that, the women’s team would then play 3 ODIs and T20Is against England. The women’s team would also play a pink-ball Test in Australia soon after the England tour. It would be the first pink-ball test for the Indian Team.
On the other hand, the Virat Kohli led men’s team would first play in the WTC final against New Zealand. Then a five test match series against England is scheduled to begin from August.
