Manchester City trounced Arsenal 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium and are in a better position than the Gunners with two games in hand.

Manchester City were on a roll as they put Arsenal to the test and handed them a 4-1 hammering which has put a major dent in Arsenal's Premier League dreams. Manchester City showed Arsenal who is boss on home turf. This has put Manchester City in prime control when it comes to the race for the Premier League title.

Manchester City were on song and their football was perfectly in sync. Kevin De Bruyne fired two goals and also was responsible for setting up the other two which were scored by Erling Haaland and John Stones. Haaland got the goal late which added a fourth one to the scoreline that came after extra time. Rob Holding was the lone scorer for Arsenal. But he arrived too late to the party. The gap is down to two points between the two sides.

The better team won the game - Arteta 

Another crucial element that can be looked at is that Manchester City have two games in hand. Things are looking very gloomy for Arsenal at the moment as this is their first defeat since February also the Gunners have gone winless in the last four games which is definitely a worrying sign for them going forward. Manchester City were backed by a buoyant home crowd which made things even tougher for Arsenal.

Manchester City were much better than Arsenal tactically and it showed on the football field which ultimately ended up yielding a result in their favour. When the match ended, Arsenal team manager Arteta said that the better team won. The manager of the Gunners was very gracious in defeat.

"The analysis is clear, the better team won the game, they were probably at their best, especially in the first half and we were nowhere near the level. When that happens, gap is too big. We got punished and we could have been punished even more. "We played an exceptional team but we are an exceptional team too and today we were not at the races," the Arsenal captain said.
