India will play Pakistan in Melbourn on 23 October in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup. Both teams are busy preparing for this mega clash. In the last edition of the 20-20 World Cup, India lost to the Men in Green. So, both the team and Indian fans will look for a better performance this time around.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli will be a key player in this tournament for India. Since the Asia Cup 2022, he has managed good form with the bat in this shortest format of the game. Now, ahead of the World Cup opener, Virat Kohli opened up about his relationship with former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni.
“My friendship and relationship with MS Dhoni is very difficult to explain” - Virat Kohli
Before the World Cup, the Governing Body of Cricket took an interview where they asked Virat Kohli about his relationship with the former skipper. He said: "What I experienced with my friendship and relationship with MS Dhoni is very difficult to explain because it is based on understanding and trust. We never actually, when people talk about batting together and calling for runs, as soon as the ball went into the gap, we never called.”
He also added that both of them had misunderstandings sometimes. “I knew he was running for two, I am running for two. We had a misunderstanding once or twice in 10-12 years. Apart from that, we were so focused on what the team wanted and what we need to do for the team all the time. There was always that trust, faith between each other that we are going to do the job for the team," Virat Kohli added.
"It was never like he was the captain or I was the captain. For me, he was always the same guy. His input was always valuable to me. For us, it was never about who was the captain, it has been a free-flowing relationship. It is something which I am going to cherish for the rest of my life." Virat Kohli concluded.
