' We have to see, how they...' - Rohit Sharma speaks about KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer's injuries ahead of ODI World Cup 2023

The woes for the number 4 in the Indian team batting lineup continue as the uncertainty clouding both Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul remains. Citing the concern, now the India skipper Rohit Sharma has expressed his view on the injury of the duo as both of these star batters gear up for making a return to the national team.

Rahul and Shreyas are both recovering from their ailments in order to return to the lineup for the international event with less than two months until the much-awaited ODI World Cup. Notably, prior to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Shreyas suffered a lower-back injury. The right-hand batter underwent surgery and also missed a few important games, including the ODI series against Australia and the World Test Championship (WTC) final. In addition to it, Rahul has also been out since the wicketkeeper batter sustained a thigh injury in an IPL match against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Therefore, to recover and get fit in time for the all-important competition in October, both players are working extremely hard at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The Indian skipper also, then discussed their injuries, saying that it becomes difficult after surgery.

"Shreyas and KL are coming off not playing anything for four months, big injuries, surgeries rather. Both had surgeries. I know, I had to undergo surgery once and how it feels afterwards, it is quite tough. We have to see, how they respond, what they do,” Rohit Sharma said as reported by India Today.
