India continued its dominance in the bilateral series as they won the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka 2-1 after beating them by 91 runs in the third game on Saturday in Rajkot.
Skipper Hardik Pandya, once again, opted to bat first after winning the toss. Opener Ishan Kishan, once again, got out early but Rahul Tripathi’s 16-ball 35-run knock meant India made a good start to the powerplay. He got out in the last over of the powerplay and then arrived India’s T20 sensation- Suryakumar Yadav. The Indian batter showed his class, yet again, and went on to score his third T20I hundred.
Shubman Gill was struggling to score boundaries but Yadav kept attacking the bowlers at the other end. The duo put on a 111-run partnership for the third wicket. Gill, though, wouldn’t be too happy with his knock of 46 runs in 36 balls. He got out in the 15th over, while the likes of Hardik Pandya and Deepak Hooda also got out in quick succession after that.
However, it didn’t matter a lot to Suryakumar Yadav, who hit boundaries all around the park. Yadav smashed 7 fours and 9 sixes en-route to an unbeaten knock of 112 runs in 51 deliveries at a strike rate of 219. His knock helped the team reach a gigantic score of 229 runs at the end of the first innings. In reply, Sri Lanka kept losing wickets at regular intervals and, thus, were bundled out for just 137 runs.
Pathum Nissanka never got going, while Mendis, once again, failed to convert the start into a big score. The likes of de Silva (22 off 14), Asalanka (19 off 14), and Shanaka (23 off 17) got starts but couldn't stay there for too long. Sri Lanka were going at a great pace but lost half of their side for just 96.
Man in form, Dasun Shanaka fell short of support at the other end as he also got out on 23 off 17 balls. In the end, Sri Lanka fell 91 runs short of the target.

Hardik Pandya needs to go back to batting at 6 and bat like a finisher rather than try and become a top order semi-conservative batsman. We have enough of those..#INDvSL

Cricketer #ShubmanGill doesn't have the X-factor to be a T20 opener. #INDvSL
