West Indies cricket board has declared a 15-member squad for their forthcoming One Day International series against Australia. Sheldon Cottrell, Shimron Hetmyer, and Roston Chase have been included in the squad after being considered fully fit for the white-ball format. Cottrell and Chase have not featured in ODI cricket since the team's tour of Sri Lanka last year. On the other hand, Shimron Hetmyer's last ODI appearance was 18 months back against Ireland.

Apart from these three players, the squad also features most of the same faces who played against Sri Lanka earlier this year. Roger Harper, the chairman of selectors, is confident that the inclusion of the experienced trio is going to add more depth to the squad.

The first match of the ODI series will take place on July 20

The forthcoming series against Australia will be a part of the ICC's ODI Super League, a qualification tournament for the 2023 World Cup. Both the top-notch teams will look to secure points to finish among the top seven teams. The teams in the top seven will secure automatic qualification for the 2023 World Cup. Roger Harper also talked about the importance of winning each and every match from here to book a berth in the global 50-over tournament.

The first match of the series is going to take place on July 20. It will then be followed by the 2nd and 3rd games on July 22 and 24. The Kensington Oval stadium in Barbados will be the venue for all three day-night matches. This will also be Australia's first visit to the Caribbean nation since the tri-nation series back in the year 2016. All-rounder Kieron Pollard will lead the team, whereas Shai Hope will be his deputy for the series.
