England are set to tour West Indies for a three-match Test series and five T20Is in January 2022. The news was officially confirmed by Cricket West Indies (CWI) with a schedule and an itinerary. England will finish the Ashes series on January 18 and then set off to the Caribbean. The team will have four days rest before the West Indies- England series begins with a T20I series on January 22.

Barbados will host all the five T20Is, which will be played out within one week. The teams will get a much-needed break of about one month before the Test matches begin on March 8. This break comes as the shot in the arm for England, who will be on-road for close to four months. The current Richards-Botham Trophy is with England, who won the Test series 2-1 against West Indies last year in 2020.

West Indies though in recent times, have shown remarkable consistency in the red-ball format and that should give them the confidence to do well against England. The first Test match will be played in Antigua followed by the next two games scheduled to be played in Barbados and Grenada on (March 16-20) and (24-28) respectively. England are also set to play one warmup match before the Tests, and that will give the team a good chance to acclimatize with the conditions.

"We are delighted to be able to confirm the venues for this extended West Indies vs England T20I and Test Series. The history and rivalry between the two teams creates great anticipation for fans here in the Caribbean and around the world. These fixtures are part of a bumper year of international home cricket running from January to August in the Caribbean." Johny Grave, the CWI CEO, said.
