India is all set to begin its tour of the West Indies with the three-match ODI series starting on the 22nd of July. Many of the senior Indian players, including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah, have been rested for the ODI leg of the series. Shikhar Dhawan has been named captain, with Ravindra Jadeja serving as his deputy.
In the absence of veteran players, a few young players have been chosen for the Indian team. While players like Shubman Gill and Sanju Samson will be making their comeback to the ODI team, Arshdeep Singh will eye to make his debut.
On the other hand, West Indies is named a full-strength squad for the series. Senior players Jason Holder, Rovman Powell, and Shai Hope will all be present, while Nicholas Pooran will captain the team. The host will look to win the series on their home soil. West Indies is coming out of a whitewash against Bangladesh in their last series, and they would not want that to repeat.
India and West Indies have a kneck-to-kneck head-to-head record. They have competed in 136 ODI matches. India has won 67 of those, whereas West Indies have come out victorious on 63 occasions. Four matches have ended without a result.
