Former Indian pacer S Sreesanth was one of the best to have represented the game. However, things were never right for him as he was involved in big controversies. He has now announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.
The 39-year old took to Twitter to post a series of tweets in which he made the announcement. He thanked various domestic boards and teams that he represented during his career. He said he took the call as he wanted to make way for the next generation of players.
Sreesanth made his comeback to domestic cricket after he faced a ban of 7 years for spot-fixing. The ban ended in 2020, and he made his comeback in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Kerala. He also played in the Ranji Trophy at the start of 2022 after a wait of nine years. He also registered himself for the Indian T20 League but remained unsold in the mega auction.
"With much sadness but without regret, I say this with a heavy heart: I am retiring from the Indian domestic (first class and all formats )cricket. For the next generation of cricketers... I have chosen to end my first-class cricket career," he said in his retirement tweet.
