Lucknow beat Chennai in the 7th match to get their first win of the Indian T20 League. After winning the toss, Lucknow made the right choice of bowling first. Chennai then had the perfect start to the innings as Robin Uthappa scored a flying fifty. He played some fantastic shots and reminded everyone of what he did in his glory days. Most of the other Chennai batters played a good game as well. Shivam Dube and Moeen Ali also scored some very important runs as they added 35 and 49 runs respectively. To finish off, MS Dhoni also played a short cameo. He scored 16 runs in six balls and hit two fours and one six. Chennai were 210 for 7 after the first innings.

While other Lucknow bowlers went for a few runs, Ravi Bishnoi was the pick of them. He conceded just 24 runs in four overs, picking two important wickets of Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu. Avesh Khan and Andrew Tye also picked two wickets each but were not economical.

In the chase, KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock gave Lucknow the start they were looking for. Both players played quick innings and added 99 runs on the board before Rahul fell for 40 runs. He played with a strike rate of 153 as he hit three sixes and two fours. After losing De Kock, Evin Lews was the man in charge. It was looking difficult for Lucknow in the 19th over but Shivam Dube leaked 25 in the penultimate over to take Lucknow on verge of a win. The formalities were finished in the final over as Lucknow won by 6 wickets.

For Chennai's bowlers, only Dwayne Pretorius had a good outing as he picked two wickets and conceded 31 runs in four overs. The fans on Twitter reacted to the match.
