Delhi convincingly beat Punjab by nine wickets in the 32nd encounter of the Indian T20 League 2022. After winning the toss, Delhi chose to bowl first at the Brabourne Stadium. Punjab got off to the worst possible start while batting first. Lalit Yadav dismissed Shikhar Dhawan (9) in the fourth over. Mayank Agarwal (24) was quick to follow as he had to depart in the fifth over by Mustafizur Rahman. After which, Axar Patel took the wicket of the in-form Liam Livingstone (2) as Punjab scored 47 runs in the powerplay.

Trouble continued for the Punjab-based franchise as Jonny Bairstow departed in the seventh over. Jitesh Sharma and Shahrukh Khan stitched a 31-run partnership for the team, but that was not enough to take the team to a good score. Sharma (32) then fell to Patel in the 13th over of the game. Kuldeep Yadav took the wickets of Kagiso Rabada (2) and Nathan Ellis (0) in the 14th over to restrict Punjab to 90/7. Shahrukh Khan (12) was then sent back by Ahmed in the 15th over.

Rahul Chahar (12) hit a few good shots before being sent back by Lalit Yadav in the 18th over for 108. Finally, Arshdeep Singh (9) was run out on the final ball of the game, leaving Punjab all out for 115. The likes of Khaleel Ahmed, Axar Patel, Lalit Yadav, and Kuldeep Yadav were amongst the wickets. Mustafizur Rahman also chipped in with a wicket.

In the chase, Delhi got off to a flying start thanks to Prithvi Shaw and David Warner. The duo started scoring runs from the word go and added 83 runs. Rahul Chahar took the sole wicket of the second innings as he dismissed Shaw in the seventh over of the match. The 22-year old added 41 runs in 20 balls, with seven fours and one six.

Warner and Sarfaraz Khan (12) cruised along as the Aussie opener got to his half-century. The two stayed not out to take Delhi through in 10.3 overs. David Warner scored 60 runs in 30 balls, hitting 10 fours and a six in his innings. Delhi moved two spots to reach the sixth place in the points table.
