Trent Rockets and Manchester Originals locked horns in the final match of The Hundred Men's 2022 competition at Lord's in London. In the title clash, Originals won the toss and chose to bat first. Laurie Evans failed to carry his form and got out after scoring just four runs. The wickets of Phil Salt and Wayne Madsen reduced the team to 22/3.

Tristan Stubbs and Ashton Turner tried to resurrect the innings but their partnership was cut short at 34 runs. At 57/4, the team desperately needed a big partnership to get a big score. However, the regular fall of wickets prevented the partnership to blossom. The Men In Black could only amass 120/9 at the end of their innings. Their six batters failed to get past the double-digit mark.

For Rockets, Sam Cook took four wickets, Samit Patel three, Luke Wood and Daniel Sams took one each.

Rockets didn't have it easy in their quest for their maiden title

In reply, The Yellow Brigade lost their opening batter Alex Hales early in the innings. Dawid Malan and Tom Cohler-Cadmore stitched a steady partnership of 27 runs. Their wickets in the space of six balls pegged the team to 49/3. Colin Munro started well with 16 off just nine balls but his inning ended after he was caught at long-off by Tom Hartley off Matthew Parkison.

Just like Manchester, Trent also kept losing regular wickets and was tottering at 107/8. However, the unbeaten partnership of 14 runs between Matthew Carter and Luke Wood helped the team clinch their maiden The Hundred Men's competition title. The Originals bowled tried well in unison as Josh Little, Paul Walter, Tom Hartley, and Matthew Parkinson took two wickets each.

Sam Cook, who took four for 18 runs, was adjudged Player of the Match. This game was one of the rare close finishes this season had over the period of the competition. Not to mention, the TV viewership had dropped in comparison to last year. This game might revive the interest among the viewers next year.
