Bangalore met Gujarat in the 43rd encounter of the Indian T20 League 2022. Winning the toss, Faf du Plessis decided to bat first at the Brabourne Stadium. The captain, however, could not give Bangalore a good start. Du Plessis (0) fell to Pradeep Sangwan the second over. Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar then added a solid partnership to get the men in red to a good position. They did not play the most attacking game but kept the scoreboard ticking. The duo added 99 runs for the second wicket before Patidar was dismissed in the 15th over for 52.
Meanwhile, Kohli also reached his first fifty of the season. However, he couldn't convert it to a big one and was dismissed for 58. Cameos from Glenn Maxwell (33) and Mahipal Lomror (16) helped Bangalore reach 170 in their 20 overs. Sangwan, playing his first game in the tournament after 2018, got two wickets in the game. Shami, Alzari Joseph, Rashid Khan, and Lockie Ferguson also took a wicket each.
Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill added 46 runs in the powerplay without losing a wicket. However, Saha (29) could not hold on for longer as he lost his wicket to Wanindu Hasaranga in the 8th over for a team score of 51. Three more wickets fell for the men in blue in quick succession. Shubman Gill (31) and Hardik Pandya (three) were dismissed by Shahbaz Ahmed in the ninth and the 11th over, and Sai Sudarshan (20) lost his wicket to Hasaranga in the 13th over.
Gujarat's scorecard read 96/4 after 13 overs. David Miller and Rahul Tewatia were in the middle and had a huge task at hand. The duo played the game with the intent and hit the bowlers all across the park. They added 79 runs in the partnership and took the team through. Tewatia scored the winning four in the final over and stayed not out on 43 in 25 balls. Miller scored 29 runs in 24 balls. With a six wickets win over Bangalore, Gujarat maintained their spot in the top of the points table.

Sure #GujaratTitans have been lucky in some chases. But they’ve also been clinical, thoughtful and very calculative.
