The final of the Road Safety World Series 2022 turned out to be a great treat for Indian fans. The Sachin Tendulkar-led team asserted dominance over Sri Lanka Legends throughout the match and registered a 33-run win to defend their title.

India Legends won the toss at the  Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur and elected to bat first. Despite losing Sachin Tendulkar (golden duck) and Suresh Raina (4) early on, the team did not look under pressure. Vinay Kumar, surprisingly, was sent up the order, and he did the job well to support Naman Ojha.

The two formed an important partnership, and the latter maintained his incredible form from the previous game. They added 90 runs before Kumar (36) was dismissed in the 12th over. Ojha (108), on the other hand, scored a magnificent unbeaten century, while he got some support from other batters.  In the end, India scored 195/6 in their 20 overs.

Sri Lanka Legends did not get off to a good start in their chase as they lost two wickets within the powerplay and scored only 33 runs. It was all downhill for the team led by Tillakaratne Dilshan as they kept losing wickets regularly.

The partnership between Ishan Jayaratne and Mahela Udawatte towards the bank end of the match was the only significant partnership for Sri Lanka. They added 63 runs for the eighth wicket stand. Eventually, Abhimanyu Mithun got the wicket of Udawatte (26) in the 18th over, while Jayaratne (51) went on to score a quick-fire half-century.

In the end, Sri Lanka Legends were all-out for a team score of 162 runs, handing India a 33-run victory. Vinay Kumar, with his three wickets, was the pick of the Indian bowlers. Abhimanyu Mithun also got two wickets each, while Rajesh Pawar, Stuart Binny, Rahul Sharma, and Yusuf Pathan each got one.

With this win, India Legends claimed their second Road Safety World Series title in a row.
