Everyone in the cricketing fraternity shifted their attention to the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow for what happened late Monday night. These talks and discussions started among the cricket fans and experts of the game just after the infamous on-field heated and ugly verbal spat between former RCB skipper Virat Kohli and LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir.

The incident happened just in the aftermath of the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Later on, the Indian Cricket Board and IPL came into the picture to impose heavy fines on both Kohli and Gambhir by cutting 100 percent of their respective match fees.

But it seems that the former legendary Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar with this punishment for the two veterans of Indian cricket. He hinted at a suspension and strict action so these kinds of brawls cannot be repeated on the field of cricket and to keep its dignity as a gentlemen’s game.

"Well, I saw the visuals only a while ago, I did not see the match live yesterday. These things never look good. What is a 100 percent match fee? What exactly is a 100 percent match fee? If it is Kohli, who is on maybe ₹17 crores for RCB, which means ₹17 crores for a possible 16 matches, including the semi-finals, and finals. So, you are talking about a crore of rupees. Is he going to be fined ₹1 crore and more? Well, that's a very, very stiff fine," said Gavaskar to Star Sports.

They should ensure that this is not repeated - Sunil Gavaskar on the brawl between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir

"I don't know what Gambhir's situation is. They should ensure that this is not repeated. You are hoping that this is not repeated because it's such a stiff fine, such a stiff punishment. You want to play it hard, play it competitively. During the time that we played, there was a bit of banter, but there was none of this aggression that we see now. A lot of it has got to do with the fact that everything is on TV too. Because of the fact that you are on TV, you tend to do maybe just that little bit extra," the former World Cup winner batter added later.
