The Indian Cricket Board on Thursday announced the squad for the five-match T20I series against the West Indies. This series is set to be played in the West Indies and the United States of America.
The Board has already announced the squad for the three-match ODI series starting on 22nd July where Shikhar Dhawan will be leading the side in the absence of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
As expected, Virat Kohli has been rested for the series once again. The speculations of him being rested were doing the rounds much before the squad announcement. Other notable omissions from the squad are wrist spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and seamer Umran Malik.
The one man that made headlines after being included in the Team was the off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. The off-spinner last played a T20I game against New Zealand in November 2021 and has been recalled to the squad for the West Indies series. He was brought into the team last year for the 20-20 world cup where he played three games.
Rohit Sharma (C), I Kishan, KL Rahul*, Suryakumar Yadav, D Hooda, S Iyer, D Karthik, R Pant, H Pandya, R Jadeja, Axar Patel, R Ashwin, R Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav*, B Kumar, Avesh Khan, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh.
*Inclusion of KL Rahul & Kuldeep Yadav is subject to fitness.

The other two notable inclusions in the team were the star batter KL Rahul and left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav. However, their inclusion in the team is subject to them proving their fitness as both are recovering from injuries. KL Rahul underwent surgery in Germany and will be seen on the field for the first time after the Indian T20 league.
The five-match T20 series will start on 29th July and the matches will begin at 8:00 pm IST. The series will be the second last series for India before the 20-20 world cup this year. The team will look to finalise their squad by giving opportunities to the young guns who’ve performed exceptionally in the recent Indian T20 league.
India’s squad for the T20I series against West Indies:

After the series, team India will play Asia Cup which will probably serve as the final series before the 20-20 World Cup. Twitter was abuzz as soon as the squad for the series was announced.
Here is what people had to say about the squad.
Ideally, you would want to players like Sanju Samson in the T20s. Ignoring him for Shreyas Iyer is beyond cricketing rationale #DoddaMathu #CricketTwitter #WIvIND

BCCI should really hold a PC and answer these baffling decisions –
Why is Kohli not in the squad
Why is Iyer in the squad
What happened to Sanju
Why are we not having a new captain for this series

What wrong did Sanju Samson do to not get a place in the t20I team?

Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal not part of India’s squad for West Indies T20s as they are rested and it seems like there place is secured for T20 World Cup 🙃

Chahal has been rested hopefully.
If he’s dropped and Ashwin is the replacement than Dravid should be sacked. #INDvsWI https://t.co/gRwwaiIyUm

I wish Virat Kohli should have kept his captaincy, nothing going in his way, he just played one test and two T20Is after IPL now only god knows the purpose of the rest here.#ViratKohli

I really feel sorry for Venkatesh Iyer, he really played good knocks for India and everyone was excited to see him as the new all-rounder for India. Just because he had a bad IPL he was ignored and now even dropped from the team. I hope he bounces back soon. @venkateshiyer https://t.co/8vPYt5n4aq
