On 22 October 2022, the “Super 12” stage of the 20-20 World Cup began in Sydney. Defending champions Australia took on New Zealand. Australia recently lost the T20I series against India and England. They even lost the warm-up match against India on 17 October. On the other hand, the Kiwis also lost the T20I tri-series final against Pakistan.

New Zealand also suffered a humiliating loss against South Africa in a warm-up game. So, the stage was set for a great match between these two big cricketing giants. Speaking of the match, Aaron Finch won the toss and he choose to field first. For the Kiwis, Finn Allen and Devon Conway came out to open the innings. 

Devon Conway scored 92* runs off 58 balls against Australia in the 20-20 World Cup 2022

Finn Allen was looking dangerous as he was smacking all bowlers around the ground. He departed after scoring 42 runs off 16 balls, including five fours and three sixes. But, Devon Conway showed his class as he scored 92* runs off 58 balls. He hit seven fours and two sixes throughout his inning. Conway also came up with some innovative shots during the innings against the Aussies. Along with them, skipper Kane Williamson also scored 23 runs off 23 balls. He hit one six and one four in his innings.  

These innings helped New Zealand to post 200 runs on the board after losing three wickets in 20 overs. Neesham also scored 26* runs off 13 balls, at a strike rate of 200. For Australia, Hazlewood took two wickets by conceding 41 runs in four overs. However, Devon Conway’s inning made headlines. Chennai fans already knew his abilities as he performed well in the last edition of the Indian T20 League. So, ahead of the next season, Chennai fans will be happy to see this batter in such a form. So, fans came up with their views and huge praises for the star batter from New Zealand.
