Pakistan dished out an incredible performance in the semi-final match of the 20-20 World Cup against New Zealand on Wednesday in Adelaide. The Men in Green were brilliant in all three departments and outclassed the Blackcaps completely in a do-or-die encounter. Shaheen Shah Afridi denied New Zealand get off to a good start with the bat as he sent Finn Allen back early in the first over of the innings.

Conway struggled badly for his 20-ball 21 before getting run out on the last ball of the sixth over, thereby leaving the team in trouble at 38 for 2. Pakistan kept bowling at great lengths and the Blackcaps had only managed to score 59 runs by the end of the halfway stage.

Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell then took the team out of trouble with a 68-run partnership for the fourth wicket. However, the former got out off Afridi just when it was time to accelerate. Williamson amassed 46 runs in 42 balls but Daryl Mitchell went on to play an unbeaten knock of 53 runs in 35 deliveries, including 3 fours and 1 six. Thanks to those two contributions, New Zealand ended up managing 152 runs in the first innings.

Pakistan, in reply, got off to a dream start as both Babar Azam and M Rizwan started with positive intent. The duo didn’t take time to settle and scored runs at a great pace. They didn’t allow New Zealand bowlers to put pressure by hitting boundaries at regular intervals. They stitched a 105-run partnership for the opening wicket and killed the game for Kane Williamson and Co. New Zealand had little chance to comeback from there.

Boult managed to pick the wickets of Babar Azam (53) and Rizwan (57) in the 13th and 17th over but Pakistan had the match in their grasp by then. M Harris’ 26-ball 30 made things a lot easier for the team as the Men in Green chased down the target with 5 balls remaining in the end.

Following the win, the cricket experts and the fans lauded Pakistan for their performance in the important encounter. Meanwhile, former Indian spinner, Amit Mishra called it as an 'upset' and congratulated Pakistan for the win. Here's the tweet:
