Who won yesterday in the match between DC and PBKS in IPL 2021

In yet another high run-scoring encounter in IPL 2021, Delhi Capitals edged past Punjab Kings to win the match. DC skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and put PBKS to bat first. PBKS skipper KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal opened for the Punjab franchise against DC. The PBKS openers notched a crucial partnership of 122 before Lukman Meriwala got the better of Mayank Agarwal. Agarwal was Punjab’s highest run-scorer in the match, scoring 69 runs off just 36 balls. Agarwal’s brilliant innings of 69 featured a total of 7 fours and 4 mammoth sixes. Soon after Agarwal’s dismissal, KL Rahul got out for 61. West Indian cricketer Chris Gayle failed to make an impact with the ball, scoring 11 runs in total. Contributions from Deepak Hooda, Nicholas Pooran and Shahrukh Khan guided Punjab to a total of 195 runs.

Ravichandran Ashwin was DC’s most economical bowler, conceding 28 runs in just 4 overs. However, Ashwin failed to pick a wicket for the DC side. Meanwhile, Chris Woakes, Kagiso Rabada, Lukman Meriwala and Avesh Khan scalped 1 wicket each. In reply, Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw stepped out on the pitch for DC.

Dhawan’s 49 ball 92 sealed the deal for DC against PBKS

Shikhar Dhawan looked to be in fine touch in IPL 2021. In 2 matches in IPL 2021, Dhawan had already amassed 94 runs. However, his knock of 92 against PBKS is his best in IPL 2021 to date. With this, Dhawan has also become the current orange cap holder, with 186 runs in just 3 matches. The Delhi southpaw ran riot against PBKS’s bowlers. Dhawan’s terrific knock of 92 featured a total of 13 boundaries and 3 sixes. Shikhar Dhawan also had support in the form of Prithvi Shaw, who smacked 32 runs in just 17 balls. PBKS bowler Jhye Richardson got the better of Dhawan in the 14th over of DC’s innings. However, the damage was already done till then. Delhi needed just 44 runs in the last 5 overs of the match. Marcus Stoinis and Lalit Yadav finished things off for Delhi with 10 balls left to spare. Even though Shikhar Dhawan missed out on a century, he was adjudged the Man of the Match. Delhi will rely on Dhawan to keep producing match-winning performances in the upcoming matches in the IPL this season.
