Dewald Brevis is seen as the next big thing in world cricket. He has impressed one and all in the Indian T20 League while playing for Mumbai. Notably, the right-hander hasn't hit a fifty so far but has played a few good cameos. In the game against Lucknow on April 16, he scored 31 off 13 balls including a six and six fours.

During the innings, England all-rounder Ben Stokes applauded the stroke play from the former South Africa U19 player. However, his innings was cut short as he could not take the advantage of a full toss, bowled by pacer Avesh Khan soon after Stokes' tweet. This made Stokes apologize to Brevis for the tweet as he felt that he jinxed the youngster. Notably, Brevis was bought by Mumbai after a stellar U-19 World Cup where he topped the charts of most runs.

Talking about the game between Lucknow and Mumbai, the former batted first after winning the toss. They amaseed 199/4, thanks to skipper KL Rahul (103*), Manish Pandey (38), and Deepak Hooda (15). In reply, the five-time winners lost the game by 18 runs. With this loss, the Men In Blue have lost their first six games and are starting at consecutive finish outside the playoffs.

Last season, the team finish fifth as they were left behind by eventual finalists, Kolkata on the basis of superior Net Run Rate (NRR). If the Rohit Sharma-led side finishes outside of playoffs this season, it will be the first time since 2009 that the team will miss out on playoffs for two consecutive seasons. In 2008 and 2009, the then Sachin Tendulkar-led side finished outside of playoffs. Since then, they haven't finished outside playoffs for two consecutive seasons.

From 2010 to 2015, the team either finished in playoffs (final in 2010, playoffs in 2011 and 2012) or won the title (2013 and 2016). In 2016, they finished outside of the playoffs but went to win their third title next year. In 2018, they once again missed out on the playoffs spot but won two consecutive titles in 2019 and 2020.
