Former Australian cricketer, Michael Hussey, is one of the greatest cricketers that Australia has produced. He has given the fans some great memories over the years, including his performance for Chennai in the Indian T20 League in 2013. He scored 733 runs in the season to win the orange cap. Not many fans knew that Hussey was a right-hand batter in his childhood but later switched to the left-hand batter. Hussey recently revealed the reason behind the same.

The 46-year old said that he admired Allan Donald, who was a left-handed batter and thus switched to left-hand batting style.

"My cricketing hero was Allan Border, who is a left-handed batsman from Australia, and I can tell you a funny little story. When I was about eight or nine years of age until then I was a right-handed batsman. But, I loved Allan Border so much that I changed to be a left-handed batsman like Allan Border," Hussey said as quoted by ON Manorama

"I loved the way he played his cricket, he was tough, he never gave his wicket away he worked very hard, played with a lot of passion, so he was certainly my hero growing up," he added.

Hussey starred in 79 Test matches, scoring 6235 runs. He also played 185 ODI matches and 38 T20 matches, scoring 5442 and 721 runs respectively.

Hussey is currently with the Chennai team in the Indian T20 League as their batting coach. Speaking of the team, he said that they have a philosophy of treating everyone equally.

"We are all equal, and we try and treat everyone equal. Whether you are (Ravindra) Jadeja, MS Dhoni or Deepak (Chahar), or you are the 25th player in the squad, you know we try and treat everyone the same, we try and treat everyone with respect, and the goal is to try and improve every player. Improve them as a cricketer, but also try and help them improve as people and as characters as well. And, I think if we can do that and everyone can try and help each other then we are doing a good job," he said.
