The Defending Champions Dabang Delhi K.C. will kick off proceedings for the season when they face off against U Mumba in the first match of the season on Friday.

Post the high-octane contests on Day 1 of Vivo PKL, the kabaddi lovers will be treated with more action-packed matches on Saturday with Patna Pirates taking on Puneri Paltan, Gujarat Giants facing off against Tamil Thalaivas and Bengal Warriors going toe to toe with Haryana Steelers in the last match of the day.

Speaking ahead of their first match of Season 9, Patna Pirates Captain Neeraj Kumar said, “We made a few mistakes in last season’s final and that’s why we were at the wrong end of the result. But we have forgotten about that match. We will take confidence from the way we played last season and look to produce good performances this season.”

Meanwhile, Puneri Paltan’s star player Aslam Inamdar expressed, “Everything is great within the team camp. Our team is very excited for the start of a new season. We have a side of many youngsters. We will definitely play well during the season and our coach has also ensured that the players are getting to know each other well.”

Gujarat Giants Captain Chandran Ranjit said, “I am really happy to be Captain of Gujarat Giants. We have a great coach and group of young and experienced players. We’ll play as one unit and produce good results this season.”

When Tamil Thalaivas Captain Pawan Sehrawat was asked if there was an added pressure for him since he was the most expensive player at the vivo Pro Kabaddi League Auction earlier this year, he said, “There’s no pressure at all. I will savour the trust shown by my franchise. I am proud about the fact that I am the most expensive player and I will try to play well for my team.”

Bengal Warriors Captain Maninder Singh spoke about having the opportunity of working with Head Coach K Baskaran, “I worked with Baskaran sir in the first season when I played for the Jaipur Pink Panthers and we won the trophy that season. Baskaran sir is a technical coach and a really good coach. We have trained very well under his guidance. We’ll look to play well and win the trophy. We have a lot of good raiders such as Deepak Hooda and Shrikant Jadhav and I am sure they’ll make an impact for our team.”

Meanwhile, Haryana Steelers Captain Joginder Narwal said, “We have a good mix of experienced and young players in our team. We have a lot of expectations from our team members. The players have trained well during the practice camp and I expect them to play well during the season.”
