After losing a closely fought match against Australia in the curtain raiser for the Women’s T20I Competition at Commonwealth Games, India got back to winning ways in the second match. In their second game, the Women in Blue defeated arch-rivals Pakistan comprehensively.

India: India got off to a good start against Australia but were defeated in the dying embers in their first match. Harmanpreet Kaur played a captain's knock, making 52 in just 34 balls. Later, Renuka Singh dominated the Australian batting with a four-wicket haul. Indian bowlers, however, could not dismiss Ashleigh Gardner who took the game away from them.
In the second match, India produced an all-round performance and defeated Pakistan by a massive eight wickets. India’s star batter Smriti Mandhana came up with a batting masterclass (63 off 42) to lead them to a victory.
Barbados: Barbados, got off to a flyer in their first match, defeating Pakistan Women’s team by a 15-run margin. Hayley Mathews (51) and Kycia Knight (62) took charge of batting before Barbados’s bowling was able to halt the Pakistan run chase.
In their second match, however, Barbados when faced with the Australian challenge, faltered. Only one batter (Mathews) was able to score in double digits as the whole team was packed at just 64. They would be looking for an emphatic turnaround against India.
