Former England skipper Alastair Cook believes that team India will be in trouble if the ball moves around in the forthcoming 5-match Test series. In the ICC WTC final against New Zealand, Cook observed that India got a bit ahead of themselves by choosing two spinners. New Zealand won the maiden WTC, defeating India by eight wickets.

Alastair Cook reckons that lack of match practice was another reason behind India's defeat. While the New Zealand team entered the WTC title clash after a Test series win over hosts England, the Indians were left to depend on intra-squad matches.

The second edition of the ICC WTC cycle will be from August 2021 to June 2023

The upcoming five-Test series is going to be a thrilling encounter. The Indian cricket team will look to end their Test series drought in the UK. India last won a series in England back in the year 2007. Earlier this year, England had toured India for a four-Test series. The visitors lost the series 1-3 and also missed out on qualifying for the World Test Championship final.

The English side paid the price for sticking to the rotation policy. However, captain Joe Root has clearly stated that it won't be the case this time around. With the India-England series marking the start of the next WTC cycle, the hosts will field the strongest squads for all five matches.

The second edition of the ICC WTC cycle will be from August 2021 to June 2023. The mega event will see the participation of the nine Test teams playing a total of six series. This includes three homes and three away, similar to the inaugural edition of WTC played between 2019 and 2021. Overall, there will be seven three-match series and 13 two-match series. In the second WTC, all nine teams will continue to play six series, three at home and three away. The England cricket team will play the greatest number of Test matches in the two-year cycle (21). On the other hand, the Indian cricket team will play 19. India is going to play five Tests against England, which will from August 4 to September 14.
