In a historical decision taken by the World Cricket Governing Council, they announced the first-ever Women cricket's Future Tours Programme (FTP). It will be in effect from 2022-25 among 10 teams. The historic FTP is the result of all members of the International Cricket body. Notably, these teams will engage with each other across all forms of the game. Generally, Test cricket isn't the most popular format among Women players.
The FTP includes two muti-format Ashes series - in June next year in England and the other one in January 2025. The three ODIs in the UK Ashes will be part of the Women’s Championship, a tournament to determine the direct qualifiers for the ODI World Cup 2025. The showpiece event will be played in India. Meanwhile, the Aussies will also play an away series of a Test, three ODIs, and three T20Is in India in December 2023.
They will also play a home series against New Zealand in March 2025. On the other hand, the likes of England, India, and South Africa will play a few Test matches in this period. The Three Lions and the Kiwis will play a home-and-away series of three-match ODI and five-match T20Is. On the other hand, the Women In Blue will play three World Cup qualifying series against Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the West Indies.
The likes of West Indies, Ireland, Australia, etc. will play a lot of T20I series
The Caribbeans will play a five-match T20I series against Ireland, three in Australia, five in Pakistan, and three in Sri Lanka. Apart from that, they will play three games each at home against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Bangladesh will play three T20Is each against South Africa and the West Indies in January 2025. On the other hand, Ireland play five T20Is against the West Indies in Jun 2023, three home T20Is against England in September ’24, three away T20Is against India, in Jan ’25, and five T20Is away against Bangladesh in December ’24.
