Ishant Sharma claimed that WTC is like a World Cup for him, and he wants India to play the finals against New Zealand. The ongoing four-match series between India and England currently levels at 1-1. Both the teams have reached Ahmedabad and will lock horns in a pink-ball Test, beginning on February 24.

The forthcoming third Test against England will also be Ishant's 100th in the game's purest format. It will be an impressive achievement for the bowler as he will become the only second Indian speedster after Kapil Dev to reach the milestone. Ishant Sharma also became the third Indian fast bowler to scalp 300 wickets in Test cricket. He's the sixth Indian to do so.

Sharma reckoned that he would have loved to travel to Australia and play the 100th Test there but things did not work according to the plan.

India achieved a remarkable 317-run win against the England team in the second Test. As a result, the series equals 1-1, and the Indian team has also reached the second spot in World Test Championship (WTC) rankings. However, India are still in the contest to make it to the World Test Championship finals. The hosts cannot afford to lose another match as they need to win 2-1 or 3-1 to qualify for the final of the first edition of the championship.

After winning the first Test, England, who were leading the table, has dropped to the fourth spot with 67.0 points. The side can still qualify, but for that, they must win the remaining matches of the series. If the India-England series concludes in a draw, Australia will play the finals against the Kiwis at Lords.
