After denying to reveal the identity of the Journalist who threatened Wriddhiman Saha, the keeper-batter has reportedly now agreed to cooperate. The BCCI has announced a three-member committee that will investigate the matter. Notably, Saha was threatened by a journalist after he ignored his interview calls.
Meanwhile, a thorough investigation will be conducted now that they have Saha's consent. "The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has today constituted a three-member committee to look into the matter of Wriddhiman Saha receiving threats and intimidation from a senior journalist. The three-member committee comprises BCCI Vice-President Mr. Rajiv Shukla, BCCI Treasurer Mr. Arun Singh Dhumal, and BCCI Apex Council Member Mr. Prabhtej Singh Bhatia. The committee will start the proceedings as early as next week. A centrally contracted cricketer was allegedly threatened by a senior journalist for not responding to his messages asking for an interview," read a release by BCCI.
The journalist threatened the wicketkeeper when he did not react to his texts and phone calls. He stated that Saha should not have done that as he doesn't take insults kindly. Saha released a screenshot of these messages on his Twitter handle.
Saha was recently omitted from India's Test squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka. He was reportedly informed by the team management that they will not consider him for future tours. In another controversy, Saha revealed that Rahul Dravid asked him to consider retirement. Reveling internal discussions in public violates BCCI rules thus the board may also take some action against Saha.
