Virat Kohli failed to notch up another century in the World Test Championship final. He successfully set up a solid 44 runs platform to steady the team. But a nip backer from Kyle Jamieson took his wickets and he had to walk back to the pavilion.

With this, Kohli has gone 45 innings without a century combining all three formats. His last Test century was in Kolkata against Bangladesh in 2019. The 2020 year was a century drought for the Indian skipper.

Moreover, in the ODI format, Kohli has been stuck at 43 centuries since August 2019. He is just six short of Sachin Tendulkar’s ODI  record of 49 centuries.

It means that Virat Kohli has gone over a year without an ODI ton. His last 114 not out was against West Indies in Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Virat Kohli’s record in WTC league phase and Test cricket.

In 14 World Test Championship matches, Virat Kohli has made two centuries and four fifties. His highest score was 254 not out. The leading run-scorers in the WTC league phase are Marnus Labuschagne (1675 runs) and Joe Root (1660 runs).

Virat Kohli’s performance in the league phase has been below average based on his standards. But he still boasts an impressive overall Test record with 7490 runs from 91 matches at 52.37 average. His Test journey also includes 27 hundred and 25 fifties.

WTC Final: Kyle Jamieson undid Kohli’s hard work

Throughout the session, Kyle Jamieson stuck to his length and got the rewards for it. The first wicket to fall on day 3 was that of Kohli who got off the record with a sublime cover drive. The 44 runs that Kohli made comprised of just a single boundary as he made rotated strikes with one’s and two’s. The next wicket Jamieson took was of Rishabh Pant. He went for just four runs and India was left with 156 runs at the loss of 5 wickets.

The Indian team could not turn the game and lost quick wickets. New Zealand bowlers packed up the Indian side at 92.1 overs with just 217 runs on board.
