With just one day left for the WTC final, former Indian pacer Venkatesh Prasad picked his playing XI for the team. The speedster took to his official Twitter to choose the playing XI and termed his team selection as a 'no-brainer'. One of the biggest concerns for Team India is to select the bowling attack. The Indian team management will be confused about going with the combination of spinners and pacers for the summit clash. However, Venkatesh Prasad has roped in both spinners Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja in his playing XI.
Bumrah, Shami, and Ishant have experience of playing in the England pitches: Venkatesh Prasad
Both Ashwin and Jadeja have performed brilliantly in the last few years. The two spinners can also provide depth to batting. Talking about the pace unit, the 51-year-old went with Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Ishant Sharma. He stated that all the three pacers have experience of playing in the England pitches. Hence, they can give the opposition batters a tough time.
Talking about the batting order, Venkatesh Prasad opted Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill as the opening pair. Young batsman Shubman Gill is now the obvious choice for India in the WTC final as Mayank Agarwal was not selected in the 15-member squad. For number three, the former picked India's Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara whereas skipper Virat Kohli walks in at number four. For the fifth spot, Venkatesh Prasad picked vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane. The former speedster also chose Rishabh Pant as the first-choice keeper.
The forthcoming ICC World Test Championship final will be Virat Kohli's first ICC trophy if he wins it. However, they will be playing against a competitive team. India has lost only once in the Championship, and that loss came against New Zealand. The Kiwis are proficient at playing in the given conditions in the UK. The Indian cricket team is scheduled to take on Kane Williamson's team in the WTC final at the Rose Bowl in Southampton tomorrow. The World Test Championship final will start at 3:30 PM IST.
