WWE Royal Rumble 2023: Top 3 wrestlers who can win the tournament

The whole WWE fraternity are eagerly waiting to see their favorite superstars in action in the upcoming Royal Rumble. The Royal Rumble match is a professional wrestling match where a number of wrestlers (traditionally 30) look to eliminate their competitors by tossing them over the top rope, with both feet touching the floor.

The 36th edition of this tournament is going to take place in San Antonio, Texas on 29 January 2023. Brock Lesnar won the last edition of the 30-man Royal Rumble match. However, whether he will be a part of the match this year, fans are still not sure. However, there are several wrestlers who can make a surprise comeback and win the tournament this year.       

Here are the top three wrestlers who are front-runners to win the WWE Royal Rumble tournament in 2023:

John Cena

This WWE superstar made headlines when he made a comeback on 31 December 2022. Fans were worried as his last match was on 10 September 2021 in Smackdown when John Cena teamed up with the Mysterios. They took on Roman Reigns and the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions The Usos for the dark main event. 

But, with this comeback, he has not missed a single year since his professional debut without wrestling. So, now fans are hoping that Cena can win this year’s, Royal Rumble. As of now, he has won two Royal Rumbles in his career in 2008 and 2013 respectively. So, he will look to match Steve Austin’s record of winning it thrice in the history of WWE.   

Brock Lesnar

This WWE superstar might make a surprise comeback in this year’s Royal Rumble match. Brock Lesnar made his last appearance in the WWE Summerslam 2022. At SummerSlam 2022, The Beast took on Roman Reigns in a thrilling 'Last Man Standing' match for the undisputed WWE universal titles. 

As of now, he has won two Royal Rumbles in his career in 2003 and 2022 respectively.  In the last edition, Brock Lesnar lost his WWE Championship to Bobby Lashley. Then, he surprised everyone by making a shocking entry to the Royal Rumble match. Thus, Lesnar became the first former world champion to win the eponymous match on the same night he lost the title.

Finn Balor

This WWE Superstar can be one of the contenders for the Royal Rumble 2023. Finn Balor has never won this tournament in his career so far. His last appearance in a 30-man Royal Rumble match was in 2018. Balor put up an impressive show by lasting for 53 minutes and eliminating four wrestlers. In the last edition of the tournament, he was not a part.

Regarding that, Balor said: “I haven’t spoken about this, but I didn’t want to take any time off. I didn’t want to miss any shows. I wasn’t injured. Legally, my visa needed to be renewed. I didn’t need a rest. I needed to go home to Ireland and go to the US Embassy and get my visa. And that’s why I wasn’t at the Royal Rumble, and that’s why I wasn’t there for a month. And everyone’s asking questions, Finn’s not here, Finn’s not there."
