In a recent piece of news, the England Cricket Board has come up with an announcement ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023, in India. Before the ODI World Cup 2023, England will take on Ireland in the three-match home ODI series just before their warm-up clash against India on Saturday, September 30.
England and Ireland will take on each other in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Headingley in Leeds followed by the second and third ODI on September 23 and 26, respectively.
Speaking of the new announcement made by the England Cricket Board, they have made it clear that the star pacer Jofra Archer will travel with the England squad for the ODI World Cup 2023, where he will continue his rehabilitation.
Notably, Archer has not been in action with The Three Lions for a long time due to his injury, in the meantime during his exclusion from the team, he made his last ODI appearance in Chattogram ODI against Bangladesh on March 6 earlier this year. However, he had a good outing in his last ODI appearance, scalping three wickets at the cost of just 35 runs in 8.5 but eventually, England lost that match by 50 runs.
Since his ODI fours years back in the year 2019, Jofra Archer has made 21 appearances for England, in which he has scalped 42 wickets, including a best performance of 6/40, alongside an amazing economy rate of 4.80.
There are also a lot of uncertainties if he could make it to the playing XI of either of the ODI World Cup matches of England, in India. But still, ECB is hopeful of his comeback by the later part of the tournament.
Here’s a look at England's squad for ODI World Cup 2023:
Jos Buttler (c), Moeen Ali, Gus Atkinson, Jonny Bairstow, Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes, Reece Topley, David Willey, Mark Wood, Chris Woakes.
