India Women and Bangladesh Women took on each other in the first semi-final of the Asian Games 2023 at the Zhejiang University of Technology Cricket Field on Sunday. Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana won the toss and decided to bat first but it proved to be a blunder for her side as they completely surrendered against the Indian bowling attack.
The ferocious Indian bowling attack led by Pooja Vastrakar bundled out Bangladesh just at the score of 51 runs in 17.5 overs. Vastrakar stunned everyone with her outstanding spell as she scalped 4 wickets at the cost of just 17 in her quota of four overs.
Other than him, Titas Sadhu, Amanjot Kaur, and Devika Vaidya also claimed one wicket each for India. Star all-rounder Deepti Sharma also bowled a brilliant economical spell as she conceded only 4 runs in 2 overs, including one maiden over.
Except for skipper Nigar Sultana’s 12-run knock, none of the Bangladesh batters couldn’t even reach the double-digit individual score in the first innings.
Shafali and Jemimah powered India to an easy run-chase
While chasing the target, Team India comfortably chased down the target only in 8.2 overs, scoring 52 runs for the loss of just 2 wickets; they won the match by a massive margin of 8 wickets to enter into the final of the Women’s Cricket Competition in the ongoing Asian Games 2023.
Opener Shafali Varma and star middle-order batter Jemimah Rodrigues played the crucial knocks of 17 and 20 runs, respectively to help India win the match with 70 balls to spare in the second innings.
Now, in the summit clash of the tournament, India will take on the winner of the second semi-final between Pakistan Women and Sri Lanka Women. Cricket fans are also expecting a high-octane India vs Pakistan final in the Women’s Cricket Competition of the Asian Games 2023.
