The game of day 1 of the first of the four-match Test match series between India and Australia has ended with India dominating the latter both with the ball and the bat. The Australian skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to bat first at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.

Batting first, the visitors’ batting lineup succumbed to the lethal bowling attack of India consisting of two veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Notably, Jadeja is making his comeback after a long hiatus due to the knee injury, he sustained during the Asia Cup 2022 last year.

Riding on the brilliant bowling performances by Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, Rohit Sharma’s men bundled up the Aussies only on the score of 177 runs in the first innings including one wicket each by Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami.

Later on, the hosts started their batting with the opening pair of skipper Rohit Sharma and senior batter KL Rahul, who was making his comeback after a long time. Skipper Sharma completed his half-century and India ended up scoring 77 runs for the loss of one wicket at the end of day 1. Ravichandran Ashwin came up in the middle as the night watchman at the end of day 1.

The Indian cricket fans were also overjoyed and ecstatic following the brilliant performance from Team India both in the bowling and batting department. They took to Twitter to lavish praises on the duo of Ashwin-Jadeja and skipper Rohit Sharma’s batting intent.

Here’s how fans reacted:

After the end of day 1, India was trailing by 100 runs in the first innings in response to the 177 runs scored by the Australian team. Rohit Sharma went unbeaten up the stairs on an individual score of 56 runs alongside Ravichandran Ashwin who is yet to get off the mark after KL Rahul fell prey to debutant Todd Murphy off the latter’s own delivery.
