'Ye naya Zimbabwe hai' - Twitter appreciates Zimbabwe after their victory over West Indies in World Cup Qualifiers 2023

The fans were treated to a thrilling game of cricket which they witnessed at Harare Sports Club. The momentum of the game swung like a pendulum throughout the game from one corner to another and eventually, Zimbabwe pulled off an amazing victory at the end. It was agony for the Windies' side as they had the upper hand in the game most of the time and the expression from Akeal Hosein certainly showed that.

It was the first time that Zimbabwe beat West Indies in a major tournament and they even ended West Indies ' match-winning streak. The host were struggling throughout the game but eventually clutched by a thin thread to register an empathic win by 35 runs. After having won the Toss West Indies opted to field first and invited the host Zimbabwe to bat first. The Zimbabwe opening pair started steadily but eventually kept on losing wickets at regular intervals which saw them reeling at one stage at 4/112 and looked into dire straights.

But eventually, Sikandar Raza(68) and Ryan Burl (50) combined together to help the team register a fighting total of 268/10 in their 49.5 overs. Especially with a below-par score on this pitch, the Zimbabwe bowler had to do a lot of work to bowl out a lineup that bats deeply. The enthusiastic crowd had a big part to play as they never stopped encouraging and supporting their side, which helped in boosting the players' morale.

Here's how Twitter reacted to this incredible victory from Zimbabwe over West Indies;

The West Indies appeared to have the game under control, but they paid dearly for their complacency at crucial stages of the game eventually cost them the match. The likes of Shai Hope (30), Kyle Mayers (56), Nicholas Pooran (34), and Roston Chase (44) all seemed set at the crease but eventually threw their wickets away.

With this victory Zimbabwe rose to first place and West Indies dropped down to third place. Sikandar Raza was selected as the Player of the Match for his match-winning performance with both bat and ball.
