A new debate has been started after the win of Mumbai Indians against the Lucknow Super Giants in the eliminator of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League 2023. The fans and experts of the game started talking about and praising the captaincy of the MI skipper Rohit Sharma in the do-or-die game for his team.
Meanwhile, the former legendary Indian skipper and batter, Sunil Gavaskar came up with a comparison between the captaincy of Rohit Sharma and veteran CSK skipper MS Dhoni.
"Madhwal got Badoni over the wicket, he got Pooran round the wicket. If it was a CSK match and MS Dhoni was the captain, everybody would've said MS plotted Pooran's dismissal. Rohit Sharma couldn't get the credit for Pooran's wicket,” said Gavaskar to Sports Today.
Subsequently, a section of the fans couldn’t resist reacting to this statement from Gavaskar; they immediately took to Twitter and came up with a lot of divided opinions on the micro-blogging site.
Here’s how fans reacted:

During the beginning of the season, Rohit was literally branded as the goat captain of IPL with 5 trophies and now he is underrated?

Madhwal said Rohit bhaiya asked him to do so

He is the most overrated captain. Would have won us the World Cup or the Asia cup to say the least. He hasn't been performing in major tournaments for a long time, it was all because of bumrah, pandya brothers, polard and malinga that he won ipl those many times

Is there any power in this world which stopping you from giving credits to Rohit without dragging DHONI's name in it?
