Former India captain Virat Kohli is one of the greatest Test cricketers of all time. He has been consistent and passionate in the longest format of the game and has earned respect from fans and former players for the same.

Kohli prefers Test Cricket the most. However, it is in this format that the former India captain is currently struggling. Kohli hasn't scored a century in over three years, and he hasn't scored a fifty in about the last 15 Test innings. Kohli's form has been under scrutiny after he scored only 111 runs in five innings in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Test series.

Kohli's form has been the biggest concern for the team and has forced former cricketers to question his place. Meanwhile, former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has a different point of view on Kohli’s form in the red-ball game. Ponting, who has been one of the biggest admirers of Kohli, has once again said that people need to have faith in Kohli and that his form is not a concern.

Speaking on a Cricket show, Ponting explained how difficult it has been for batters to play in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar series due to the turn and bounce of the pitches, and thus refrained from commenting on Kohli's form in the contest. Ponting said, “I am not looking at anybody's form in the series because for batters it has been an absolute nightmare. Australia has done a remarkable job by turning around those first two Test matches and coming back to win the third.”

“We all know batting has been so incredibly difficult. And it has not been because of the turn, but also the uneven bounce which makes you lose trust in the wicket and if that happens you are guessing all the time which makes batting difficult,” he said.

Ponting backed Kohli in the Test Cricket

Further speaking and explaining his statement former Aussie legend Ricky Ponting backed Virat Kohli and said that he believes Kohli will bounce back. “For Virat Kohli, I have said that over and over, champion players always find a way. He might be in a bit of a drought at the moment and might be not scoring runs which we all expect him to score but he is a realist as well.

“When you are a batsman and you are struggling and not scoring runs, you are pretty aware of that yourself. I am not concerned about this because I am confident he will bounce back”, he said. Notably, Virat made an electrifying comeback in the form against Afghanistan during Asia Cup last year.

However, fans didn’t find it a good gesture and said it was hypocrisy. A Twitter user said, “Kb tak wait karna hai.”
