Team India completely outmuscled West Indies in the first of the two-match Test series, played in Dominica. The match ended only in three days with India winning the match by a massive margin of an innings and 141 runs. Indian fans saw some brilliant and remarkable performances in the match across all departments.

The fans were also elated and ecstatic following this emphatic win by Rohit Sharma’s men. Fans took to Twitter to shower praises on the team, especially young debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal and veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin for their marvellous performances in the first Test of the series.

Some of the fans also felt that it was a completely one-sided match in favour of India which ended too early.

Speaking of the action of the match, the hosts West Indies won the toss and decided to bat first. The going was not easy for the Windies batters and got bundled out only for 150 runs in the first innings. The debutant Alick Athanaze was the only batter who showed any resistance with a hardworking knock of 47 runs off 99 balls with six fours and a six to his name.

The number one Test bowler and veteran Indian star, Ashwin lived up to his stature and scalped five wickets in the first innings. Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also scalped three wickets alongside one wicket each claimed by Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur.

India, in their first innings, posted a massive total of 421 runs for the loss of five wickets before declaring the innings. 21-year-old debutant Jaiswal smashed a sensational century on his Test debut for India before being dismissed for 171. Skipper Rohit Sharma also completed his career’s 10th Test century followed by former skipper Virat Kohli’s 76 runs.

Later on, in the second innings, Ashwin’s 7-wicket haul extinguished the Caribbean side, bowling them out for only 130. Jadeja and Siraj also claimed 2 and 1 wicket respectively. India ended up winning the match by a humongous margin of an innings and 141 runs to take a lead of 1-0 in the two-match Test series. Jaiswal picked up the Player of the Match for his heroics with the bat.
