'Ye to samajh hi nahin aa rha' - Former Pakistan captain lashes out at PCB for approaching Mickey Arthur for 'online coach' role

Pakistan Cricket Board’s most recent decision has become something to talk about and laugh about in the entire cricketing fraternity. The PCB has decided to re-appoint former Pakistan Coach Mickey Arthur as the coach of their national team. But now, the Board has approached Arthur in a completely different manner as they are even ready to settle with his coaching in an ‘online mode’.

It is also because Arthur is currently active in his services as a coach to the Derbyshire County Club of England. His return was highly speculated in the Pakistan cricketing corridors since the arrival of Najam Sethi again as the chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Although this decision from the cricketing authorities didn’t go down well with the former Pak skipper and one of the most decorated all-rounders, Shahid Afridi. In a recent interaction with the journalists, the former interim chief selector has slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board for an unnecessary obsession of having only foreign coaches despite some talented names in Pakistan cricket only.

"Mujhe bhi nahin pata kis tarah ki coaching hogi aur inka kya plan hai. National team ki coaching online tareeke se kisi gair-mulqi coach se haraana waqai mein samajh se baahar hai. (Well, even I don't know what type of coaching will happen or what the plan is. The concept of online coaching by a foreign coach for the national team is beyond comprehension)," said Afridi to the journalists.

“Gair-Mulqi coaches hi kyun, Pakistan mein bhi ache coaches hain, main janta hun PCB is baat ka bhi khyal rakhti hai ki hamare yahan bande siyasat mein chale jaate hain. Lekin un sab cheezon ko cricket se duur rakhna chahiye jisse ki hamein koi aisa banda mile jo achhi team banana ke liye kade faisle le sake. (Why only foreign coaches? Pakistan do have good coaches here. I know PCB also takes into consideration where the person is presently involved in politics. But all those should be kept aside in cricket so that we get a person who can take the tough calls which eventually makes a good team)," he added later.
