Shahid Afridi

Former blistering Pakistan all-rounder and skipper Shahid Afridi is continuously hitting the headlines for his actions and statements for the last couple of days. Recently, he has said that Indian Cricket Board should take a step forward to improve cricketing relations with Pakistan; Afridi also reckoned that the Indian board is a very strong board and they can improve relations between India and Pakistan.

He also added that he will make a step ahead to request Indian PM Narendra Modi to ‘let cricket happen’ between two cricketing powerhouses of South Asia.

“I will request Modi sahab to let cricket happen between both countries,” said Afridi during the recently concluded Legends League Cricket 2023 in Doha.

“What can we do if we want to befriend someone and he does not talk to us? There is no doubt that the BCCI is a very strong board, but when you are strong, you have more responsibility. You don’t try to make more enemies; you need to make friends. When you make more friends, you become stronger,” he added later.

Although this statement from Shahid Afridi didn’t go down well with a wider section of the Indian cricket fans; they couldn’t control their emotions to come very hard on the former Pakistan skipper for his previous harsh comments and brutal criticism of PM Narendra Modi. Indian fans took to Twitter to remind Afridi about his previous provoking comments on India and PM Modi.

Here's how fans reacted:

Coming back to Afridi’s statement on cricket in Pakistan, he later added that Pakistan haven’t had security concerns of late if it’s about hosting cricket there.

“As far as the security concern in Pakistan is concerned, we had many international teams traveling here recently. We used to face security threats from India as well, but if permission is received from the government of both countries then the tour will happen. If the tour doesn’t happen, we will give those people a chance. All they want is that there should be no cricket between them,” he concluded.
