Virat Kohli, the star Indian batter, has broken yet another milestone by becoming the sixth Indian batter to accomplish 8500 Test runs. On Day 2 of the IND versus WI 1st Test in Dominica, the 34-year-old attained the milestone. Notably, Kohli required 21 runs to complete the record, which he accomplished comfortably in the 103rd over with a single.

Kohli is the sixth Indian to have run 8500 Test runs. In terms of innings played, he is the seventh fastest batter to achieve the 8500-run milestone in Tests. The former Indian captain hit his 8500 Test runs in his 185th innings. The 34-year-old also has numerous records in the game. He is now ranked fifth among Indian batsmen in terms of Test runs.

Virat Kohli's Test Journey

Kohli made his Test debut during the West Indies tour in 2011. Though he couldn't achieve much in his first series, he quickly became an important member of the squad. His finest came out once he was named Test captain in 2014. He then delivered one outstanding innings after another, leading India to multiple victories.

His seven double-tons are the highest by an Indian in Tests. All of his double-centuries have come while he was captain of the squad. No other captain has as many double hundred as him. Kohli has 4,144 runs in 50 home Tests at an average of 60.05. His 14 Test tons at home rank fourth in Indian history. In 57 away Tests, he has over 4,240 runs at a 41-plus average with 14 tons and 16 half-centuries.

Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal is unbeaten at 143 on debut, while skipper Rohit Sharma blasted his 10th Test century as India cruised to victory in the first Test against the West Indies. Before Rohit departed on 103, Jaiswal and Rohit had a record 229-run partnership. Shubman Gill couldn't remain long because he was fired on 6. However, Virat Kohli provided strong company for Jaiswal, helping India to 312/2 at Stumps with India leading by 162 runs. India will try to add on some more runs to secure a hefty lead on Day 3.
